Jon Jones, widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters in UFC history, has long been known for his extraordinary skills inside the Octagon. However, his career has also been marked by controversy and antics outside the cage, a side of “Bones” that few fans have witnessed firsthand—until now.

Partying during fight camp?

One of the most jaw-dropping revelations comes from Bogdan Guskov, a former security guard turned UFC fighter, who witnessed Jones’ wild behavior during his fight camp ahead of the iconic 2013 light heavyweight title defense against Alexander Gustafsson.

“I saw Gustafsson leave at around 10-11pm to get some sleep. Meanwhile, Jon Jones stayed in the club until 5am. He was drunk as f***,” Guskov revealed to Ushatayka.

Jones, who was at the peak of his career, clearly didn’t let the pressure of facing one of his toughest opponents affect his off-ring lifestyle.

“At one point, I even saw him and Frank Mir wrestling on the floor – and none of us dared to break it up. Luckily, they were just playing. I was shocked that a fighter of this level could party like that. He drank everything that was at the bar,” Guskov added.

A love-hate relationship with Dana White

Jon Jones’ behavior outside the cage wasn’t without consequence. UFC President Dana White has openly admitted that “Bones” was challenging to manage, and Jones’ controversial actions sometimes overshadowed his fighting brilliance. This complicated dynamic is still affecting his potential return, as White has expressed doubts about including Jones in the UFC White House event in 2026, citing trust issues.

The legend of “Bones”

Despite these off-ring escapades, Jones’ legacy inside the Octagon remains untouchable. Apart from a disqualification loss to Matt Hamill, he has dominated multiple eras of light heavyweight competition, defeating every top contender with remarkable precision and skill.

Yet, stories like Bogdan Guskov’s highlight a side of Jon Jones rarely discussed: the fighter who could party until dawn even during the most critical periods of his fight camp. It’s a stark reminder that even the greatest athletes sometimes live life on their own terms—often to the amazement of those around them.

As Jones eyes a potential comeback in 2026, fans are left to wonder whether he can balance his legendary talent with the discipline required to stay at the top. With trust issues lingering and his past antics in the spotlight, the UFC world will be watching closely.
