Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time Formula 1 world champion, has revealed he has no plans to retire from the sport until he can compete in a Grand Prix on the African continent. The British driver expressed his strong desire to see Formula 1 expand to Africa, emphasizing the continent's historical and cultural significance while highlighting how colonial exploitation has hindered its development.

Hamilton made the comments in a recent interview, underscoring that racing in Africa would represent a personal milestone before ending his illustrious career. Speaking at the Australian Grand Prix, the Ferrari driver revealed he has spent six years lobbying stakeholders and asked:
“Why are we not in Africa?”
Hamilton, who is of Afro-Caribbean descent, added:
“I don’t want to leave the sport without getting to race there.”
The former Mercedes superstar also said:
“They’re setting certain dates… I could be running out of time, so I’m going to be here until that happens.”
Hamilton, who has begun his 20th season in Formula 1 and his second with Ferrari following a blockbuster move from Mercedes, was all in praise of Africa. The superstar is determined to see Africa in the calendar one day before he hangs up his helmet.
