Logan Paul didn’t hold back after Mike Tyson’s defeat to his younger brother, Jake Paul, in what was one of the most talked-about boxing matches in recent memory. The fight, which took place on Friday, ended with a result that many had not anticipated. The judges ruled in Paul's favour by 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73
The 58-year-old Tyson, showing signs of age, struggled to match the speed and agility of his 27-year-old opponent. Jake Paul emerged victorious by unanimous decision, disproving the predictions that favored Tyson to win.
Despite the loss, Tyson remained upbeat about the future, expressing his willingness to return to the ring. In an unexpected twist, the legendary boxer even hinted at facing Logan Paul, Jake’s older brother, who is also known for his WWE career. “I don’t know, maybe his brother…” Tyson said.
Looking stunned, the older sibling responded in the best way he deemed fit: “M**********r I’d kill you, Mike.”
Tyson's fatigue was visible
As the fight progressed, Tyson showed increasing fatigue, with his punch output diminishing. Despite the heavy blows he absorbed, Tyson never went down and kept fighting until the final bell, a testament to his resilience. However, it was Jake Paul who triumphed, securing the unanimous decision. After the fight, the two shared an embrace, putting aside their months of rivalry and animosity, and acknowledging the significance of the event—despite Netflix’s technical glitches during the broadcast.
However, the goodwill didn’t last long. During the in-ring interview with MMA journalist Ariel Helwani, Tyson was asked about the possibility of retirement to which he told that he would like to fight his brother Logan. His comment left Jake and others around the ring visibly shocked, as most fighters typically call for a rematch after a loss. Tyson, on the other hand, seemed to set his sights on Logan, indicating that he might look to face the older Paul sibling instead.
Money on stake
Considering the interest the fight has generated, the two fighters are set to get a big amount. While the official prize money is yet to be revealed, Jake in the pre-fight press conference said he is 'here to make $40 million and knock out a legend".
The legendary boxer Tyson is set to receive $20 million as reported last month by USA Today.
"Boxing industry experts have estimated Tyson could make somewhere in the range of $20 million at various times since the event was announced last March," the report said.
