Patel officially assumed office as FBI Director after being confirmed by the Senate in a narrow 51-49 vote.

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel is reportedly exploring the idea of involving the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) to bolster the self-defense skills of FBI agents. According to a report by The Independent, citing individuals familiar with the matter, Patel suggested forming a formal partnership with the mixed martial arts organization during a teleconference with the heads of the FBI’s 55 field offices.

 Mixed Reactions from FBI Agents
The proposal, while yet to be officially addressed by the FBI, has sparked a range of reactions within the agency. Some active agents reportedly described the idea as "surreal" and "wacky." The potential collaboration between a premier combat sports organization and a federal law enforcement agency has left many surprised.

Trump and UFC connection
There is a great affinity between Trump and UFC. Former President Trump has been a very vocal supporter of UFC for a long time. Just days after the November elections, he made an appearance at an event in New York. Trump and UFC President Dana White appear to have been very close, in the sense that White was heavily involved in Trump's reelection campaign.

Adding more spice to the matter, Patel's soon-to-be deputy, Dan Bongino, is said to be a huge UFC fan. His passion for the sport apparently inspired Patel to see the incorporation of UFC-style training into the FBI's regimen.

Surprise Visits and Love for Hockey:
Over the call with field office heads, Patel mentioned that he would be making visits with Bongino to various locations for an unexpected purpose, with the aim of easing stress on the employees. He also revealed his own fondness for hockey, stating that he would like to play for the FBI team.

 FBI's ‘New Era’ Under Patel
Since taking charge, Patel has introduced sweeping changes within the bureau. One of his major moves was ordering the transfer of approximately 150 FBI employees from Washington to various field offices, signaling a shift in operational focus. Currently, the FBI has 9,414 employees stationed in the U.S. capital.

On February 27, Patel took to X (formerly Twitter) to declare a bold vision for the agency’s future:

"The FBI is entering a new era that will be defined by integrity, accountability, and the unwavering pursuit of justice."

"There will be no cover-ups, no missing documents, and no stone left unturned — and anyone from the prior or current Bureau who undermines this will be swiftly pursued."

He further vowed to uncover any gaps, hidden records, or misconduct, ensuring full transparency by bringing findings to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for public dissemination.
