On Sunday, January 19, Twin Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker's uncle and grandmother passed away in a horrific road accident. According to reports, a scooter and a Brezza car collided on Mahendragarh Bypass Road at approximately nine in the morning on Sunday. Manu Bhaker's grandma and uncle died instantly because of the accident. Following the collision, the driver of the vehicle left the scene.
The President presented Manu Bhaker with the Khel Ratna Award just two days ago. The police arrived at the scene after learning of the occurrence, took the bodies into custody, and sent them to the civil hospital for a post-mortem. The police and the in-charge of the city police station are looking into the matter.
"We got the information about the accident about a collision of a car and a scooty. Both the persons on the scooty died. We could not find the driver of the car at the spot," police officer ASI Suresh Kumar said while speaking to broadcaster India Today.

At the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Bhaker became the first Indian since independence to win two medals in a single Games. She became the first Indian markswoman to win a medal in the individual 10m air pistol event, opening India's medal total with a bronze. Later, she and Sarabjot Singh won the bronze in the mixed team 10m air pistol competition.
