It has been long said that Conor McGregor is done when it comes to MMA, and considering that at this stage of his life, he is more gravitated towards politics, thus, it is almost certain that the MMA's biggest ever star will never return to the UFC's Octagon again. McGregor was invited to the White House recently, where he met US President Donald Trump and following that his political ambitions also got disseminated. McGregor has announced plans to run for Ireland's presidency.

Daniel Cormier Criticises Conor McGregor's Move

While McGregor has many followers, his political ambitions have sparked tremendous debate. Daniel Cormier, one of only a few fighters to win UFC belts in two weight classes at the same time, is among the most recent to voice out against the Irishman's startling desire. 

“He wants to be a politician,” Cormier told Chael Sonnen on the Good Guy/Bad Guy podcast. “I think people in Ireland don’t even like him Chael. Everyone I speak to, they can’t stand this dude. I guess he feels like he has enough support to go into politics.”

'Fame is a drug' for Conor McGregor 

The former UFC fighters further discussed the topic and came to the conclusion that Conor McGregor is driven by "fame". According to Cormier, when the Irishman secured the comeback victory against Donald Cerrone in 2019, his popularity got further spike which prompted him to continue fighting despite attaining all the financial fruits one can dream about. They stated "Fame is a drug" for him and might be the reason he is heading towards a political career.
