Kyler Phillips is currently on a three match winning streak.

Rob Font is gearing up to face Kyler Phillips in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 245 on Sunday and he seems hardly bothered by his opponent’s three-fight winning streak, saying, "I'm kind of used to that." The matchup is set to take place at UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Font (20-8 MMA, 10-7 UFC) is looking for his first victory since last April, when he scored a first-round finish over Adrian Yanez at UFC 287. However, he’s been on a tough stretch lately, having lost two consecutive fights against Cory Sandhagen and Deiveson Figueiredo. In contrast, Phillips (12-2 MMA, 6-1 UFC) is riding a wave of momentum, recently earning a unanimous decision victory against Pedro Munhoz, following wins over Raoni Barcelos and Marcelo Rojo.

In an Exclusive conversation with Sports Tak, he shared his thoughts on the anticipated fight. He said "Yeah, you know, I got an up and coming, you know it is a dangerous fight ahead of me. I haven't fought since December 2nd, so I'm excited to get back in there. We're back in Vegas. I love fighting in Vegas and yeah, this kid's dangerous man. He starts real fast, you know,  He's always looking for the finish which is and he throws a lot of numbers, you know Like so without that much value is gonna be a lot of openings for me to capitalize and I plan on Saturday night for that".

On asked about Kyler's three-match win streak, Font backed his experience saying "I'm feeling like I'm fighting like the top of the division since like 2014. If it's not the top of the division, it's a big name, you know, so I'm kind of used to that. And I consider this kid to be the top of the division as far as skill set, not necessarily. He doesn't actually have the number yet or the name yet, but his skill set is there. So it's no different from fighting a high level opponent, like a Deveson or even like a Corey Sanag. This is a dangerous fight. And as far as the mindset goes, just fighting these guys, this is kind of like what you sign up for when you get to the UFC. Every fight is going to be a dangerous fight, a dangerous opponent. You know, they're all going to be well-rounded. They're all going to be dangerous. They're all going to be tough and they're all going to be looking for finishes. So, um, I think I'm just used to it".

Font talking to sports Tak also reflected on his UFC journey. He said "It has been 10 years, that's crazy It is easily hand down that the same night I fought with a calvocator in Boston. We both got some finishes that night So yeah, that's easy. That's probably the best moment of those last 10 years.  I was out of obviously all my fights in the last 10 years. I would say fighting in Boston UFC 220 with Calvin K. It was probably the best memory I had so far. You know, we both had tough fights. We both got finishes and you know, we all got out of there, you know with our hand raised and you know, we made some money that night".

He also shared his thoughts on a potential road to Title.

"I'm just focusing on Kyler right now. You know, he's a dangerous opponent. Obviously, I got to get, I got to rack off at least three teams that are having that conversation again. Maybe two, depending on if anybody gets injured and all that. But I do believe I got to finish this guy and get my name back to that mix."

As for the betting odds, Phillips is heavily favored at -450, while Font sits at +330, according to FanDuel. Fight fans can catch this exciting bantamweight clash on Sony Sports Network on October 20, 2024, from 4:30 AM. Sony Sports Network is the official broadcaster of UFC in India.
