Simone Biles reacts with pride after Jonathan Owens secures a new NFL opportunity.

The veteran safety begins a new chapter following his departure from the Chicago Bears.

11-time Olympic medalist Simone Biles has expressed her excitement after her husband, Jonathan Owens, secured a fresh opportunity in the NFL. The safety recently agreed to a one-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts after entering free agency this offseason.

Owens previously spent two seasons with the Chicago Bears, but the franchise chose not to renew his contract. The move opened the door for the veteran defender to explore new options, eventually leading him to Indianapolis ahead of the upcoming season.

The deal marks another chapter in Owens’ steady NFL journey. Since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2018, he has worked his way through multiple teams, including the Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans, and Green Bay Packers.

Simone Biles shares heartfelt reaction

Biles quickly reacted to the news on social media, sharing her pride and excitement as Owens prepares for his next step in the league.

“No Friday the 13th scaries here,” she wrote, before adding, “So proud of you, baby. Indy, here we come.”

The decorated gymnast has been one of Owens’ biggest supporters throughout his NFL career. Following her historic run at the 2024 Summer Olympics, Simone Biles stepped back from gymnastics competition and spent significant time supporting Jonathan Owens from the sidelines.

During his stint with the Bears, she frequently attended games and became a regular presence in Chicago, often drawing attention for her custom outfits featuring Owens’ jersey number.

Jonathan Owens’ recent performance and role

Owens has carved out a reliable role in the league through his contributions on defense and special teams. In the 2024 season with Chicago, he played 40% of the team’s defensive snaps and 55% of their special teams plays, finishing with 49 tackles and one tackle for loss.

However, his role shifted more heavily toward special teams last season. He logged just 4% of the defensive snaps while appearing in 58% of Chicago’s special teams plays, resulting in 19 tackles—his lowest total since 2021.

As Jonathan Owens prepares for his eighth NFL season with the Colts, he will look to reestablish a larger role while continuing to provide value on special teams. With Simone Biles cheering him on, the move to Indianapolis represents both a fresh start and a new chapter for the couple.
