Simone Biles emphasizes taking time off to focus on her well-being before making decisions about 2028.

She confirms she will be part of the Los Angeles Olympics in some capacity, whether competing or not.

Simone Biles, the most-decorated gymnast in history, has provided an update on her potential participation in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, leaving fans both intrigued and hopeful. Speaking at the Ready25 Conference in Sydney, Australia, Biles stressed the importance of taking a step back before committing to her future in the sport.

Taking time to reset

After her record-breaking performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she claimed gold in the team, all-around, and vault events, and silver in the floor exercise, Biles made it clear that she is prioritizing her mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

"I haven't decided yet; I'm still taking time off mentally and physically before I decide anything," Simone Biles said, via realestate.com. "Never say never because you truly don't know, but I'm taking time off to reset mentally and physically and emotionally because training for an Olympic Games ... it's not just the year before, it's the four years prior."

Her candid acknowledgment highlights the immense pressure and dedication required to compete at the highest level, emphasizing that even a champion of her caliber must consider the toll of four years of intense preparation.

A chance to make history

Though she has already cemented her legacy with 11 Olympic medals and 30 World Championship medals, Biles noted that a potential return in 2028 could offer the opportunity to rewrite gymnastics history. Currently tied for the second-most Olympic medals among female gymnasts alongside Czechoslovakia's Vera Caslavska, Simone Biles is just two gold medals shy of tying Russia's Larisa Latynina for the most all-time.

A return to the Olympic stage in Los Angeles could therefore not only serve as a farewell tour but also as a historic milestone, allowing Biles to further solidify her legendary status.

Staying involved beyond Competing

While Biles remains undecided about competing, she assured fans that she will still be involved in the 2028 Games in some capacity.

"If I'm not on the floor, I definitely will be in and around it, and you guys will see me in L.A., but to what capacity I'm not sure. But I'd love to be involved as much as possible," Simone Biles added.

Her comments reassure fans that her presence will influence gymnastics in Los Angeles, whether as a competitor, mentor, or ambassador for the sport.

As the countdown to the 2028 Olympics continues, all eyes will be on Biles to see if this gymnastics legend will once again dazzle the world on the sport’s biggest stage.
