UFC star Paddy Pimblett is ready to shake up the lightweight division with a bold mission—beat Michael Chandler at UFC 314 and become the UFC’s next major pay-per-view attraction. In an exclusive interview with SportsTak, Pimblett declared himself as the new face of the sport.
“Michael Chandler has always been preparing to fight Conor McGregor. But now he will be finding a new cash cow. The new money bringer, the eye bringer, Paddy Pimlick,” he said with a smirk.
Fans can watch the action live on Sony Sports Ten 1 (SD & HD), Sony Sports Ten 3 (Hindi), and Sony Sports Ten 4 (Tamil & Telugu).
Pimblett knows what’s at stake. “Yeah, this is the biggest fight of me… climbing the ladder to get towards the world title and that's what I want to do,” he stated.
Although the rivalry between him and Chandler is heating up, Pimblett acknowledged the mutual respect. “We're gonna be enemies when the cage door locks, but other than that, we're very cool. I seen him last night in the hotel. He's a nice fella.”
This bout will mark his first five-rounder inside the Octagon. “Obviously being more rounds of sparring and more things centered around 5 rounds of conditioning,” he said, describing the intensity of his camp.
He also addressed his old feud with Ilia Topuria: “No, it's not under the bridge at all… Hopefully I still fight him down the line.”
The conversation also touched on Pimblett’s infamous weight cuts. “It's not easy life, we? But it's just dedication and consistency… eating less calories than you burn every day, you will lose weight,” he explained.
Pimblett was also asked about longtime friend Molly McCann’s recent retirement. “We don't really want her to, but the fight camps are getting hard on her… she wants to just focus on that.”
As for his future? “Be Chandler and anyone in the top 5 is who I want to fight.”
