The Undertaker, who bid farewell to WWE nearly five years ago, recently shared his thoughts on John Cena’s retirement journey. Speaking on his Six Feet Under podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer suggested that once Cena steps away from wrestling in 2025, he might never return to in-ring competition.
Cena, a former WWE Champion, has been on a highly publicized farewell tour this year. Although his journey got off to a rough start at Royal Rumble, he bounced back with a monumental victory at Elimination Chamber 2025. In a shocking move, The Cenation Leader turned heel by aligning himself with The Rock, all in pursuit of a record-breaking 17th WWE World Championship at WrestleMania 41.
The legendary Undertaker believes that farewell tours should become the norm for top-tier wrestlers so fans get a chance to say their goodbyes properly.
"I love the fact that [John] Cena is doing this farewell kind of tour, and I think it should probably, for people in that calibre, hopefully it's the model moving forward that you get to go. Although they don't do many events anymore, but to go out and kind of have this tour where people can know, where they can see you and go and see it one last time, and you can address these audiences. I love that. Get your flowers, but more so even for the fans to get that one last opportunity to see because I don't think, once [John] Cena does leave, I don't see Cena back," The Undertaker stated.
Undertaker’s Own Stance on Returning to the Ring
As always, The Undertaker’s name surfaces around WrestleMania season, fueling speculation about a possible comeback. However, The Deadman firmly shut down any chances of him stepping back inside the squared circle.
"Not a chance in hell," he stated bluntly on his Six Feet Under podcast.
Though retired from active competition, the 59-year-old WWE legend made an appearance at NXT Roadblock, where he was spotted backstage giving words of encouragement to Oba Femi before his title defense against Moose.
With WrestleMania 41 fast approaching, John Cena’s in-ring future hangs in the balance as he prepares to face Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. If The Undertaker’s prediction holds true, 2025 might truly mark the final chapter of Cena’s storied career.
