More about the Territorial Army
Former Indian cricket captain M.S. Dhoni was awarded the honorary title of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army back in 2011.
The Territorial Army (TA), which was established on October 9, 1949, celebrated its 75th anniversary last year. Over the decades, it has played a vital role not only during wartime but also in disaster relief and environmental conservation efforts.
Functioning as an integral part of the regular Indian Army, the TA has seen many of its members recognized for their service, receiving both gallantry awards and distinguished service honors for their dedication during conflicts and national service.
On the athletics front, Neeraj Chopra is next scheduled to participate in the 71st Janusz Kusocinski Memorial—a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver event—on May 23 in Chorzow, Poland, following his appearance at the Doha Diamond League. He is also expected to compete at the Ostrava Golden Spike 2025 meet in the Czech Republic on June 24, after missing the last two editions of the event due to injury.
