A major wrestling star has sparked speculation about a possible move to WWE by using one of Roman Reigns' most famous catchphrases. NJPW standout Jeff Cobb, rumored to be WWE's next major signing, recently fueled the buzz with a post-match statement.
Cobb, a respected veteran with over a decade in the business, has been a key figure in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) since 2017. While he has made appearances in AEW, he never signed a full-time contract with the company.
Cobb’s Cryptic Message After NJPW Victory
The 42-year-old star, who is reportedly close to joining WWE, added further speculation to the rumors after his latest match. Following his New Japan Cup Tournament victory over Tetsuya Naito, Cobb delivered a promo backstage, where he referenced Roman Reigns' famous line.
Check out his statement below:
“I’m gonna be a good boy and finish this tournament tour and whoever walks out the New Japan Cup champion, I will come knock, knock, knocking, and whoever it is I have to fight, you will acknowledge me.” (H/T – PostWrestling)
Jeff Cobb Previously Rejected WWE’s Offer
Back in 2021, Jeff Cobb had the opportunity to sign with WWE but turned it down. He later explained that his decision wasn’t about money but about creative freedom and flexibility in his career.
In a past interview, Cobb revealed:
“I did get contract offers from other places. But at the end of the day, it was—you know like—I mean WWE offered me a contract. Great money but, at the end of the day, you know, it’s—money is gonna make a lot of your problems go away but at the end of the day, money won’t make you happy so I wanted to work somewhere where I felt like I fit in more (…) If I went to WWE, I wouldn’t be able to do a random indie booking if I wanted to (…) New Japan, I love Japan. The culture is amazing out there and the style of wrestling.”
Cobb’s Future – WWE Bound?
Currently, Jeff Cobb has qualified for the quarterfinals of the New Japan Cup Tournament. However, with WWE rumors intensifying, it remains to be seen if he will finish the tournament or make a surprise exit to join WWE sooner than expected.
