The wicketkeeper batsman’s coming of age innings came when he was playing for the Lions against the Titans, in a SuperSport Series match in 2009. He scored 203 off 295 balls and batted for almost seven hours in that match.

‘Villi’ made his T20 debut for the Lions on 25th January 2009. He impressed all as he averaged almost 40 in nine innings, with a highest score of 55 not out.
