Carlos Alcaraz has not been up to his full potential so far. The Spanish star, who recently dropped to World No. 2 ATP ranking following his loss to Jannik Sijnenr at the Monte Carlo Masters final, has been seeing some early round exits.
Amid this, the seven-time Grand Slam champion has revealed that hateful messages on social media deeply affect him, sometimes triggering self-doubt even after major victories and at just 22 years old.

In a candid press conference ahead of the Barcelona Open, the multiple Grand Slam champion acknowledged spending too much time online, where negative comments after defeats make him question his abilities. As per a report in AS, Alcaraz was asked if he manages social media and how he handles the hateful messages. He stated:
"Maybe I see the networks more than I should, and things affect me.”
The tennis star added:
"Everyone is human and certain comments make you doubt what you are capable of, in certain defeats they make you think if you are enough or not.”
Alcaraz added:
"You have to have the right people around you, and luckily I have my wonderful family and team."
Alcazar is eyeing a return to the No. 1 position as Sinner has decided to skip the event in Barcelona. The Spanish international, Alcaraz, began his campaign against Otto Virtanen, winning the first round in straight sets.
