Carlos Alacaraz has parted ways with long-time coach Juan Carlos Ferrero in a sudden statement after seven years, ahead of the 2026 season. Ferrero, a former World No. 1 and a Grand Slam champion, began working with the Spaniard when Alcaraz was just 16 years old.
Ferrero transformed the Spanish sensational player into one of the best players of this generation. However, the two have now called it quits in a heartfelt statement released by the player on his official social media account.

On his X (formerly Twitter) account, Alcaraz wrote a heartfelt message for his long-time coach, thanking him for making his childhood dream into reality. The No. 1 star also thanked Ferrero for making him grow not just as an athlete, but also as a person. Alcaraz said:
"It's very difficult for me to write this post... After more than seven years together, Juanki and I have decided to end our time together as a coach and player.”
The top-seeded player also penned:
"Now come times of change for both, new adventures and new projects. But I am sure that we will face them in the right way, giving the best of us, as we have always done."
Alcaraz thanked his coach and wished him the best for the future. The announcement came just days after Ferrero and Samule Lopez won the ATP Coach of the Year Award following their guidance with Alcaraz. He became the first person to clinch the title multiple times since its inception in 2016.
Throughout their partnership, Alcaraz bagged six Grand Slam champion titles and reached No. 1 in the ATP Rankings. He also clinched a silver medal in the Olympics. In 2025, the Spain international became the year-end No. 1 for the second time, won his second French Open title in a row, grabbed his second US Open title, and his sixth major. Alcaraz also clinched the titles in Monte Carlo, Rome, and Cincinnati.
