Carlos Alcaraz's surprising take on his rivalry with Jannik Sinner goes viral
As he talked about his increasing rivalry with the Italian, Alcaraz, in a Vanity Fair cover story, said:
"We’re showing the world that we can be on court and give our best, and try to do the most possible damage to the other while playing, try to beat each other, and then, off court, just be two guys who get along really well.”
Alcaraz added:
"There’s no need to hate each other because we want the same thing.”
In the interview for Vanity Fair's first global sports issue, Alcaraz also downplayed comparisons to historic tennis rivalries, noting both players have many years ahead. He hopes they will contest many more finals and "split the greatest tournaments."
The comments come alongside a striking clay-covered photoshoot that has sparked widespread online reaction. The young stars, often dubbed "Sincaraz" by fans, continue to dominate men's tennis with their compelling mix of on-court battles and off-court life.
