American tennis prodigy Coco Gauff recently made waves after she battled past the reigning French Open champion, Iga Swiatek of Poland, to bring home the United Cup 2025. Gauff sent a strong statement after she defeated Karolína Muchová of the Czech Republic in the semifinal. Now in a much talked about clash between her and Swiatek that unfolded on Monday, January 6, the former has defeated the Polish standout to secure the United States their second United Cup after 2022.
Following the victory, the 2023 US Open champion opened up about her thoughts and gave a bold statement about her form amid the questions that surrounded her during her 2024 campaign, where she dealt with serving problems that led to some forgettable performances. As a result, Gauff also parted ways with her then-coach Brad Gilbert and joined Matt Daly to explore new challenges.

In a much-awaited faceoff between Gauff and Swiatek, the American icon secured her second successive victory against her Polish counterpart, winning the match in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-4. The game which lasted for almost two hours gave an upper hand to the American team in the cup. Later, Taylor Fritz of the US team defeated No. 16, Poland's Hubert Hurkacz, 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (4) on the men's side, stamping Americans victory in the tournament.
Following the victory, Gauff spoke boldly about her recent form and expressed that she has the belief in her that she is the best tennis player in the world, further adding that when she is playing good tennis, she gets really tough to beat. "
Following her two consecutive victories over the world No. 2, Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff will now be heading to the Australian Open starting from Monday, January 6, with much-needed confidence by her side for an extremely competitive tournament.
