The Australian Open is around the corner, and all eyes will be on Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard has already arrived in Melbourne as he joins in the practice sessions ahead of the first Grand Slam of the year. The tennis sensation will be looking to bag his seventh major title, but has he ever won a Grand Slam in Australia? Let us have a look.
Has Carlos Alcaraz ever won Australian Open title?
No. Carlos Alcaraz has not yet won the Australian Open title. The Spanish superstar has six Grand Slam titles to his name, and the Melbourne major is the only one he has yet to clinch. The No. 1 star has not achieved outstanding results at Melbourne Park up to this point in his career.
Alcaraz missed the 2023 edition due to an injury he sustained in the offseason. In the following years, he was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic.
Sinner has won the title in Australia in the last two editions and is the clear favourite. However, Alcaraz will aim to deny his arch-rival’s three-peat and win his first-ever Australian Open trophy.
Alcaraz has won the French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open twice each. At the Australian Open, the most the 22-year-old has reached is the quarterfinals. There will be extra pressure on the Spanish international, especially after parting ways with his long-time coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, who helped Alcaraz clinch six majors.
