Novak Djokovic might be ending his tennis career; it won't be too soon. However, the player believes that he knows which tournament would be his last. The 24-time Grand Slam champion has revealed his hope of competing at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and bringing his glittering tennis career to a close there.
Novak Djokovic reveals THIS tournament as his potential career finale
The Los Angeles Olympics are expected to be the last time he will be representing Serbia one final time before he says goodbye to his iconic career. In an interview with Spanish newspaper SPORT, the 39-year-old Serbian said:
“I hope to make it to LA 2028 and finish my career that way, with the Serbian flag on my shoulders.”
The comments come as Djokovic promotes his new documentary Wolf in Winter, which premieres on Amazon Prime on 20 August. The film, directed by Jason Hehir, known for The Last Dance, explores his journey, resilience and the personal sacrifices behind his 24 Grand Slam titles, Olympic gold and record weeks as world number one.
Djokovic, who finally claimed Olympic singles gold in Paris in 2024 by defeating Carlos Alcaraz, described that victory as “probably the most important moment of my life and career.” Looking ahead to Los Angeles, he described participation as both a dream and a goal. He said:
“I think I can achieve it. We’ll see. It will depend on how my body responds and many other circumstances.”
The veteran has already scaled back his tournament schedule compared with previous years, prioritising time with his family and other interests while keeping tennis at the centre of his professional life. At 41 in 2028, a sixth Olympic appearance would mark a remarkable extension of one of the sport’s most enduring careers.
