Gauff is all set to face World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the Miami Open 2026 final

Iga Swiatek has been going through a tough season so far. The tennis star faced back-to-back early exits from the WTA tournaments and, most recently, from the Miami Open, after which, she slipped to No. 3 in the WTA Rankings.

The ranking didn't last long as she is set to be replaced from the third ranking as well. From Monday, this tennis star will take the place following her stunning run in Miami. Who is it? Let us find out.

Coco Gauff to replace Iga Swiatek as new World No. 3

Coco Gauff is set to rise to World No. 3 in the WTA rankings next week after reaching her first Miami Open final on Thursday. The 22-year-old American cruised past Karolina Muchova 6-1, 6-1 in the semifinals at Hard Rock Stadium, dropping just two games in a dominant 90-minute display.

Entering the tournament as World No. 4, the American star earned enough ranking points from her run to overtake former No. 3 Swiatek by a slim point margin in the live standings. Gauff broke Muchova six times and won 10 games in a row after dropping the opening game, showcasing her superior baseline consistency and return game against the 13th-seeded Czech, whom she has now beaten in all six career meetings.

The Florida native, playing near her hometown, will face either world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka or No. 2 Elena Rybakina in Saturday's final. This marks Gauff's sixth WTA 1000 final and highlights her strong 2026 form, having already completed a career sweep of quarterfinal appearances at all 10 current WTA 1000 events.

Swiatek, meanwhile, who suffered an early second-round exit in Miami, will drop to No. 4 when the official rankings update on Monday. Meanwhile, Gauff is all set to face World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the Miami Open 2026 final. The five-time Grand Slam champion is attempting to win the Sunshine Double, having won the Indian Wells this year.
