CM Punk revealed when he plans on stepping away from WWE. The Second City Saint is the reigning World Heavyweight Champion on WWE RAW.
CM Punk reveals his retirement plans
In an interview with CinemaBlend, the former AEW wrestler broke silence about when he was planning on retiring from the sport. The 47-year-old mentioned that there are still stars performing in the 70s, but he did not envision that for himself. Punk said that he might be prepared to step away when he turns 50 in a few years.
"When I was 15, if you asked me if I'd be wrestling when I was 40, I would tell you 'No, that's crazy. 40 is so old.' I'm 47, and I don't feel old yet. Terry Funk wrestled for a long time, Ric Flair wrestled for a long time. I mean, there's luchadors that are like in their 70s that are still doing it. Do I want to be doing that? Probably not. I would estimate probably the big 50 is when I should maybe gracefully bow out. Knock on wood, if nothing else horrible happens," said Punk. [H/T: CinemaBlend]
Big challenge for CM Punk
CM Punk managed to retain the World Heavyweight championship against Bron Breakker last week on WWE RAW. The veteran is set to defend his title against the Judgement Day's Finn Balor next Monday night on the red brand in Ireland.
Former WWE writer raises questions on CM Punk
Wrestling icon Vince Russo recently raised questions on CM Punk calling out wrestling fans for high expectations on the My Mom's Basement podcast with Barstool Sports' Robbie Fox.
Speaking on Vince Russo's The Brand, the veteran writer noted that Adam Pearce teased that Chris Jericho would be making a comeback on a recent episode of RAW and didn't understand why Pun would think there would be a positive response after Y2J was not on the show.
"Does CM Punk understand that Adam Pearce teased the walls coming down? They tease Chris Jericho. The company teased Chris Jericho, knowing d*mn well Jericho wasn't going to be there on the show. What kind of feedback do you expect?" Russo said.
It will be exciting to see if Punk can defeat Balor next week on WWE RAW to defend the World Heavyweight Championship.
