The Undertaker has achieved a legendary status in the wrestling world. The veteran is a WWE Hall of Famer and a legendary name in the industry.
A part of Taker's aura was his iconic WrestleMania streak. He ended his career with a record of 25-2 at the Show of Shows. In fact, for over two decades, The Phenom was undefeated at WrestleMania.
In an interview with Inside The Ropes, Mark Henry explained how his WrestleMania 22 match with Taker panned out. The star noted that he dominated the whole fight but lost at the end. The iconic wrestler explained that it was all a process of making The Deadman appear weak. Henry mentioned that fans thought Taker would always win at WrestleMania, and the creative team wanted to show that he could reach the limit where he could face defeat.
"I was the only one that whooped his a*s at WrestleMania. Go back and look at the match. I beat him from pillar to post, and he won. All the pictures are me choking him, dropping something on him, catching him, and throwing him. It was like I dominated that match because they wanted him to be put in a situation where it looked like he can be beat. The Undertaker, at that point, had beaten so many people; he had got to the point where everybody just expected him to win. Just to say that I was part of a process that helped humanize the Undertaker, I can go to my grave and be happy with that."
Mark Henry on refusing to beat the Undertaker
During the same interaction, Mark Henry remembered that Vince McMahon and The Undertaker wanted him to go over at WrestleMania 22.
The wrestler immediately shut down the idea, saying that it would earn him criticism from fans and wrestlers worldwide. Henry pointed out that even to this day, a big section of fans are irate that The Deadman's winning streak came to an end.
