Chiefs lose Xavier Worthy; will Travis Kelce play against the Eagles?

Story Highlights:

The Chiefs lost key player Xavier Worthy to injury against the Eagles

The Chiefs lead the last five head-to-head against the Eagles

The Kansas City Chiefs will be without their key player, Xavier Worthy, which will be a huge blowout to their offense. The wide receiver has been ruled out of the Chiefs’ Sunday game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The player is sidelined following a shoulder injury that he suffered in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers when teammate Travis Kelce ran onto him. As the franchise is shorthand, they will need the tight end on Sunday more than ever.

Is Travis Kelce playing on Sunday against the Eagles at the home opener?

Yes, Travis Kelce, the Chiefs’ star player, will be playing against the Super Bowl defending champions. It might also be possible for pop star Taylor Swift, who is now his fiancee, to accompany the American footballer at the home game. With Rashee Rice and Worthy ruled out, the team would have one of the biggest matches of the season in a Super Bowl LIX rematch at Arrowhead Stadium.

All eyes are on Kelce, who was involved in causing Worthy and unintentional injury. The 35-year-old hauled in 47 receiving yards in two receptions. It will be seen how he takes up the responsibility in the big time.

Meanwhile, after being decimated by the Super Bowl champions on the biggest stage, the Chiefs would be willing to take their revenge this time at the home opener against the clear favourites. While the Chiefs suffered a 27-21 loss to the Chargers in Week 1, the Eagles  began their campaign by earning a 24-20 home win over the Dallas Cowboys.

The Birds would look to advance their record to 2-0 with a road win in enemy territory. However, the Chiefs, who are still looking for a win of the season, dominated their last five head-to-head meetings where they managed to win three of their encounters.

While the Eagles got the better of the opponents, the Chiefs might have a home-field advantage this time. It might be too soon to call it a must-win game; however, the Chiefs would want to take this one at Arrowhead Stadium, which will shape the rest of the team's 2025 season.
