Buffalo Bills rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman will miss Sunday's matchup against the Indianapolis Colts due to a wrist injury, head coach Sean McDermott confirmed on Friday. The injury, which could sideline Coleman for multiple weeks, occurred during Sunday's 30-27 victory over the Miami Dolphins in the National Football League (NFL).
Injury Details: Coleman blindsided during critical play
The injury took place in the final minutes of the game when Coleman was blindsided by Dolphins safety Jordan Poyer while attempting to make a catch on Buffalo's game-winning drive. Poyer was penalized for unnecessary roughness, which set up a franchise-record 61-yard field goal by Tyler Bass, securing the win for the Bills.
Coleman’s impact on the Bills' offence
Coleman, a second-round pick out of Florida State, has quickly become a key contributor for the Bills. With 417 receiving yards, he ranks second in the team and is tied for the team lead with three touchdown receptions. His absence will leave a significant hole in Buffalo’s receiving corps, particularly as they continue their push for the AFC East title.
Amari Cooper's status uncertain for second straight game
The Bills may also be without wide receiver Amari Cooper for a second consecutive game. Cooper, who was acquired in a trade from the Cleveland Browns last month, is listed as questionable after practising on a limited basis this week while wearing a brace on his left wrist. Since joining the Bills, Cooper has been limited to just five catches for 69 yards and a touchdown in two games.
Injury Report: Backup linebacker and defensive changes
Buffalo's injury report grew longer on Friday, with backup linebacker Baylon Spector now listed as questionable with a calf injury. The starting cornerback Christian Benford will also return after missing last week’s game due to a wrist injury. Benford does not carry an injury designation for Sunday’s game.
Bills look to maintain AFC East lead against Colts
Despite the injury concerns, the Bills (7-2) enter the game against the Colts with a strong record and atop the AFC East standings. However, they will need to adjust their offensive and defensive plans to compensate for the missing players as they continue their playoff push.
