Additional NFL Week 17 Schedule Changes

In addition to the Saturday tripleheader, the NFL has also flexed its Sunday Night Football matchup for post-Christmas, moving the Atlanta Falcons at Washington Commanders game to Sunday, Dec. 29. This game will replace the previously scheduled Miami Dolphins vs. Cleveland Browns matchup.

Meanwhile, the Indianapolis Colts will face the New York Giants at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, Dec. 30.

 Playoff Implications

Each of these games carries significant weight in the playoff race. Here’s a closer look at the stakes for some of the teams involved:

- Denver Broncos (9-5) are aiming to break their eight-season playoff drought and currently hold the sixth seed in the AFC. Their matchup against the Chargers (8-6) is critical for positioning in the wild-card race.

- The Cincinnati Bengals (6-8) have been on an offensive tear, averaging over 34 points in four of the last six games. They will be looking to secure a win to stay in the playoff hunt.

- Los Angeles Rams (8-6) are in the NFC West lead, but with the tight wild-card race, they need to finish strong to keep their playoff hopes alive. They will also face a rematch with the Seattle Seahawks in Week 18.

- The Arizona Cardinals (currently trailing) need both the Rams and Seahawks to stumble if they are to make any ground in the division race.

- Washington Commanders (9-5) are clinging to the final NFC wild-card spot, while the Atlanta Falcons (7-7) are hoping to close the gap with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-6) in the NFC South race. The Falcons have a decisive tiebreaker advantage after sweeping the Bucs this season.

These games not only promise thrilling action but also pivotal moments that could shape the playoff picture heading into the final weeks of the NFL season.
