Aaron Rodgers To Potentially Move to Steelers

Rodgers is a free agent for the first time in his career, having been released by the New York Jets after two drama-filled seasons. The four-time MVP led Gang Green to a terrible 5-12 record during a nightmare season in which head coaches Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas were sacked midway through. Owner Woody Johnson reportedly wants Rodgers benched at some point this year.

Despite the tendency to remain unsure, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin remains a major fan of Rodgers and hopes to make him the team's starting quarterback. Getting Rodgers to visit is a solid first step, but it's unclear whether a deal will materialize.

NFL Insider Provides Update On Potential Aaron Rodgers to Steelers Deal

Even though Rodgers met with team personnel, a deal is not currently close, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

“No deal is done or imminent. But Rodgers spent time with coaches—another sign he’s seriously considering playing his 21st season in Pittsburgh,” Pelissero posted on X.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Steelers and the New York Giants are interested in acquiring the services of Aaron Rodgers. The Minnesota Vikings were in reckoning as well but they retreated from the pursuit and are decided to remain put with 2024 first-round pick J.J. McCarthy. It is still unclear where Aaron Rodgers will head to, leaving the Pittsburg quarterback situation in limbo.

The Steelers have already signed a deal with Mason Rudolph while Russell Wilson remains a free agent and Justin Fields departed for the Jets.
