Marquise Brown had a difficult 2024 campaign as he suffered a serious injury during the preseason. He then underwent surgery for a sternoclavicular injury which he sustained on the first play of the preseason and returned to action in the final few weeks of the season.
Patrick Mahomes on Hollywood Brown's injury
The 28-year-old wide receiver ended the regular season with nine receptions for 91 yards and no touchdowns in two games. He only notched up five receptions for 50 yards and no touchdowns in three postseason contests.
However, he is now fully recovered and the expectations are high from him. The Kansas City Chiefs' quarterback Patrick Mahomes said he is excited to have Brown back and what he brings to the offence this year.
He's going to be someone who makes plays for us, Mahomes told reporters on Tuesday. Even though he wasn't playing, he was in those meeting rooms last year, so he has an understanding of how we do things. Then at the end of last year, kind of getting thrown in, he made some plays and did some stuff in a very hard situation. I'm excited for him, I'm excited for that whole room.
Where does Hollywood Brown rank on the Kansas City Chiefs depth chart?
It is expected that Hollywood Brown will play a crucial role for the Chiefs in the upcoming 2025 season. Brown sees himself as the primary wide receiver on the Chiefs depth chart, alongside Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy.
However, when it comes to production and connection while playing with Patrick Mahomes, it appears that Brown will be the third choice. Both Rice and Worthy have played alongside Mahomes and have created that chemistry, although that has to do a lot with the injury that Brown suffered last year.
Only time will tell whether Brown plays as a starting wide receiver for the Chiefs this year or not. However, it is pretty evident that Mahomes is looking forward to playing alongside Brown, who had an injury filled 2024 season.
