Several Indian rowers have raised concerns about sudden changes in the lineup just days before their Asian Games 2026 event. Key athletes, including 2022 silver medalist Arvind Singh, have been moved from their originally assigned events to different categories, stirring unrest within the camp. Reserve rowers have been unexpectedly promoted to the first team, while some athletes have been shifted between boat classes, such as the single and quadruple skulls or the men's pairs.

The most significant adjustment involves Arvind Singh moving from the single skulls to the quadruple skulls event, with Balraj Panwar switching in the opposite direction. Similarly, the men's pair combination has been altered, replacing Saurav Kumar and Vipul Satish with Nitin Kumar and Jaswinder Singh. There are also reports that reserve athlete Jasmail Singh may join the Coxless Four team. Navdeep Singh and Khulwinder Singh were shifted to the quadruple skulls from the double skulls crew. These changes have left many team members unsettled, with some athletes expressing distress and refusing to eat after hearing about the sudden reshuffle.
While regulations allow up to 50 percent of crew members to be changed in the case of medical emergencies, the scale and timing of this reshuffle have raised questions among the rowers. They suspect the overhaul amounts to a complete revamp without clear reasons, causing confusion within the squad.
