Harry Brook achieved a historic feat in cricket.

In an exhilarating one-day international match against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi, Harry Brook etched his name in the record books by scoring 202 runs. This remarkable achievement marks the first time an England batter has scored a double century in ODIs. Breaking past Ben Stokes's previous record of 182, Brook set a new highest individual ODI score for England with breathtaking speed and precision. His 200 came up in just 114 balls, making it the fastest double century in ODI history, surpassing India's Shubman Gill who took 117 balls to reach the milestone.

Brook’s innings was a blend of patience and explosive power. Starting cautiously with only 13 runs in his first 24 balls, he then accelerated impressively. He reached his half-century in 42 balls and his fourth ODI century came up in 75 balls. Once he crossed the hundred-run mark, his momentum was unstoppable as he added the next 100 runs in just 39 balls. His powerful strokes included 10 sixes and multiple fours, illustrating his ability to combine power hitting with controlled timing.

The 27-year-old captain's leadership evidently boosts his performance. His average of 56.04 runs as a captain in ODIs clearly outshines his average of 25.2 without the armband. This innings not only helped England post a massive total of 429 for 4, the highest ODI total recorded in Pakistan, but it also showcased Brook’s dominance and excellent form at the international level.

Brook’s record-breaking knock is the 14th double century ever scored in men’s ODIs and stands as the 12th highest individual ODI score in cricket history.
