The end of the 2024 MLB season was already an edge of seat thriller now things have gotten even better for fans. specially for the New York Mets. The Mets will not play on Thursday, September 26. Their game against the Atlanta Braves was also canceled on Wednesday. Instead, the Mets will next visit the Milwaukee Brewers for the start of a three-game series on Friday, September 27, 2024 (9/27/2024).

The final two games of their original series against the Atlanta Braves have been rescheduled into a doubleheader on Monday, September 30. So instead of having their postseason fate cemented by Thursday, the Mets and Braves could now go down to the wire with back-to-back games on the one day of the season when no other team is scheduled to play. To make matters worse, the 2024 MLB Wild Card Round kicks off the very next day, on Tuesday, October 1. So even if one of those teams does come through to clinch a postseason spot on Monday, they will get zero rest as they deal with a quick turnaround into their Wild Card series in under 24 hours.
That could all change depending on the results of the Mets first series against the Milwaukee Brewers (and the Braves’ series against the Royals) starting Friday. After dropping Tuesday’s game against Atlanta 5-1, New York needs to build a cushion against Milwaukee. But the Brewers are a good team with a 90-68 record that has already cemented their spot as the NL Central champs. These two teams haven’t clashed since April, and Milwaukee owned New York in a 3-0 sweep during that series. Things have changed for the Mets since, but it could be an uphill battle.
