The 30-year-old pitcher Corbin Burnes was having a great season with his new team, Arizona Diamondbacks, before he sustained a season ending injury on Friday. Burnes had signed a six year deal worth a whopping $210 million in the offseason. He has a 2.66 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 64.1 innings and 11 starts to his name.

Four players who can replace Corbin Burnes at Arizona Diamondbacks

According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, Corbin Burnes will undergo Tommy John surgery. It was expected that Burnes would anchor Arizona's rotation deep into October, the Diamondbacks' front office will now have to put in extra work in order to replace the pitcher.

Here are four players who can replace Corbin Burnes at Diamondbacks following his season ending injury.

1. Dylan Cease

Following Corbin Burnes' injury, the Diamondbacks will have to turn to the trade market. Cease is in his final year and will become a free agent in the offseason. He may not be as good as Burnes, the Padres could make him available in the market and if the Arizona want, they could get his services for a cheaper price. During the ongoing season, Cease is 1-5 and holds a 4.72 ERA.

2. Michael Lorenzen

Lorenzen is not having a year that he would have thought off, he is having 5.12 ERA in 65.0 innings, so Kansas State might not hand on to him. He will be available in the market and if Arizona thinks of him highly, then they can go for him in the market.

3. Andrew Heaney

Apart from Paul Skenes, anyone from the Pittsburgh Pirates team will be available in the market. Heaney is having a good season and could replace Burnes. He is having 3.39 ERA over 66.1 innings.

Teams such as Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees are also navigating through their injury issues to their starting rotation members. Both the teams will also be eyeing to go for Heaney.

4. Michael King

Another member from the Pittsburgh Pirates team on this list is Michael King. He won't be becoming a free agent until 2026 season, his name has come up in trade rumors.

He is dealing with right shoulder inflammation and his return is nearing. Before getting injured, he had a 2.59 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 55.2 innings. He has experience in his hands which plays a big part.
