What Davin Perrin did on August 30th was nothing short of a magic. The Northern Superchargers' star batter, who is just 18 years old, set a new record by smashing the fastest century by an English woman in T20 cricket.

Playing for the Northern Superchargers, the young batter notched the towering feat in the Women’s Hundred Eliminator against London Spirit at the Kennington Oval in London.

After being put in to bat first, Perrin got to her fifty in just 25 balls. She then accelerated her scoring to reach a blistering hundred from only 42 deliveries. Her impressive innings of 101 from 43 balls, which included 15 fours and five sixes, ended when she was run out by Charli Knott.

Perrin’s century made her just the second player, after Tammy Beaumont, to score a hundred in the Women’s Hundred. Her knock was also the second-fastest century in the history of the tournament—men’s or women’s—only behind Harry Brook’s 41-ball effort in 2023.

Davina Perrin's spectacular performance propelled the Superchargers to a formidable total of 214 for five. In their chase, the Spirit could only manage 172 for nine, despite a quick half-century from Georgia Redmayne off 29 balls. The Superchargers ultimately won by 42 runs, and Perrin was fittingly named Player of the Match for her brilliant century.

The teenager has had a consistently excellent season, ranking fourth among the top run-scorers in the current tournament with 243 runs in nine matches at a strike rate of 139.65.

Perrin's talent was also on full display earlier in the year at the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia, where she was England's top performer. Across five innings, she amassed 176 runs, finishing as England's highest scorer and the second-highest run-getter in the entire tournament. She maintained an impressive average of 35.20 and a strike rate of 135.38.

Her most impactful innings came against the USA, where she dominated the attack with a magnificent 74 off just 45 balls, featuring nine fours and three sixes. Her strike rate of 164.44 earned her the Player of the Match award. In the semi-final against India, Perrin once again showcased her composure, scoring 45 off 40 deliveries. Her innings provided a crucial element of stability for England, who were collapsing from 81/2 to 92/8.
