Mookie Betts thinks that he is not doing anything extraordinary to get this kind of results. It's just that he is an exceptional player

The Japanese International in the Major League Baseball (MLB) for Los Angeles Dodgers, Shohei Ohtani hit a three-run home run in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series (NLCS) against New York Mets on Wednesday, 16th October and took the game further away from Mets' reach. It is something that his teammates are familiar with, notably Mookie Betts.

What did Mookie Betts say about his teammate Shohei Ohtani?

Betts has seen himself at either the on-deck circle or at the plate whenever Ohtani does something remarkable. He further said that Ohtani isn't doing anything extraordinary to achieve this kind of result.

After the game, Betts said, "He's just a regular dude, just like you and me. He just has a superpower that you and me can't do. So that's pretty much it. But he's a normal dude, goes about his work just like everyone else. I wish I could explain something he does different, but he doesn't do anything different.”

It was the New York Mets who struggled in offense all night and Dodgers' four-run lead was enough to seal the game. However, Ohtani's three-run home run had ended the game then and there. It's his second postseason home run that shows he doesn't shy away from the big stage.

Betts himself has a great track record when it comes to the postseason. He thinks that Ohtani isn't doing anything out of the box and is a fantastic player who happens to be good.

Mookie Betts defends Shohei Ohtani from criticism

Before Shohei Ohtani's three-run home run, the Japanese International was struggling. Players have their on and off days but everybody expects the most out of Ohtani. Ohtani was being criticized for his recent struggles but Mookie Betts defended his teammate.

Right after the game, Betts said via MLB, "I have no idea why people are talking about Shohei. He’s the best player on the field every day. Oh, he hasn’t got a hit with nobody on. Who cares? It’s Shohei Ohtani. Everybody knows who he is every time he steps in the box. Everybody is expecting something to happen."

Betts did admit that Ohtani's performances are so good that it sets the bar but it shouldn't be a talking point if he looks 'human for 20 at-bats.' It was the right moment for Ohtani to step up and silence his critics.
