The Atlanta Braves have had a horrendous start to the ongoing Major League Baseball season as they lost first seven games. Injuries have been something which they are navigating through as key players have been out of action. But, some good news is coming their way as they are getting close to their potential.
Atlanta Braves general manager provides update on Ronald Acuna's return
The Atlanta Braves have improved to 24-24 and are on the verge of welcoming one of their star players in the form of Ronald Acuna. He has missed 12 months of action as he was suffering from a ACL tear. He has been rehabbing in Triple-A and it is expected that he will return to the lineup later this week.
While talking to New York Post, Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos provided with major update on Acuna's return.
He is traveling with the minor league team, and he will be spending, at least, we don't have days per se, but you play them back-to-back days in the outfield. We'd like to get him as close to nine innings as we can in the field. We feel pretty good about his timing at the plate and at-bats.
He's been playing in sim games and live batting practices since Spring Training opened, so this is about just getting his legs underneath him. So we'll spend the week working him through that, we'll check in daily with the staff, but you should see the workload increase starting on Tuesday. But we'll continue to see how it does, but he's getting very, very close.
Acuna's return will be a major boost for the Atlanta Braves as they lost Jurickson Profar to an 80-game PED suspension at the start of the season. By the way, Profar was their offseason acquisition.
Atlanta Braves welcomes star player to lineup ahead of Ronald Acuna's return
While the Braves are gearing up for the return of Ronald Acuna, one of their star player Spencer Strider will be making a comeback to the lineup on Thursday after missing out for a month.
It was Strider's second start in the last year as he missed most of the last season due to an elbow surgery. His return was not how he anticipated as he lasted only 4.1 innings, conceded four earned runs over six hits, slumping to 0-2 for the season.
But, with more game time provided to him, the All-Star will return to his best and the form he showed back in 2023.
