Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer had a major victory out of the field on Monday as he was ordered to be paid $300,000 by his accuser Lindsey Hill. The decision was made by a judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court.
Bauer has not played in the Major League Baseball since Lindsey Hill accused him of sexual assault allegations back in 2021. He was then suspended as MLB launched an investigation but both the parties reached a settlement in 2023.
The reason behind the settlement
Bauer claims that Hill breached the terms of their agreement from 2023. She made false claims involving money in the settlement on social media and podcasts.
The former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher filed for a lawsuit in October and this week, he has won the case. Trevor Bauer will be receiving a whopping $220,000 for 22 violations from Hill and the rest of the money will take care of the attorney fees.
Where was Trevor Bauer playing while being suspended from MLB?
Following his suspension from MLB, the Dodgers had to let go off Trevor Bauer back in January 2023. He was then signed by Yokohama DeNA BayStars in Japan. He had a one year contract for $4 million in March 2023. After his sting in Japan, he played for Diablos Rojos del Mexico in the Mexican League in 2024. He achieved the Mexican League Pitcher of the Year award as he played a vital role in the team's postseason success.
He then returned to Japan for his second stint, signing again with Yokohama DeNA BayStars.
Can Trevor Bauer play again in MLB?
Having been suspended by the MLB back in 2021 due to the allegations made by Lindsey Hill, Trevor Bauer has been cleared of all the charges made against him, which makes him eligible to sign for a MLB team.
Despite his strong performances out of MLB, no team has shown interest in signing the former All-Star ace.
Is Trevor Bauer's age blocking his MLB return?
Trevor Bauer was at peak of his game as he was fresh off a Cy Young winning season, when he had joined the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has been posting strong numbers on the board while playing in Mexico and Japan, but his age is a potential concern for the MLB owners.
Bauer turned 34 in January and has not thrown in the MLB for over four years. He would need time to come to his best form, especially after the introduction of the pitch clock in 2023.
