The Los Angeles Dodgers are fortunate to have Shohei Ohtani as part of their roster, not just for his power-hitting prowess but also for his elite pitching abilities when healthy. Ohtani, regarded as one of the top sluggers in the National League, is often compared to New York Yankees' Aaron Judge in terms of offensive dominance. However, what truly sets Ohtani apart is his dual-threat talent, serving as both a top-tier hitter and pitcher.
Ohtani's MVP Performance Despite Missing Pitching Duties
Although Ohtani did not pitch for the Dodgers during the last season, he was still selected for the National League Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, recognizing his overwhelming contribution at the plate. He has yet to step on the mound this season, but Jon Morosi of the MLB Network gave an optimistic update on Ohtani's pitching status on Wednesday.
Ohtani’s Pitching Progress: Insider Update
Morosi shared some encouraging news during his segment, stating, “I think that he will be back before October.” While the exact timeline remains uncertain, Ohtani’s return to pitching is looking likely in the near future. Morosi continued, “We’re not sure exactly sure when that date will be… Dave Roberts told reporters… that Ohtani is expected to throw a light bullpen today in Chicago. Of course, he missed some time while on the paternity list. But, the idea is that his throwing progression continues. A full bullpen is happening on Saturday.”
Though there’s no official return date yet, Ohtani’s ongoing bullpen sessions signal positive progress in his recovery. His next major milestone will come with a full bullpen session scheduled for this Saturday.
Ohtani’s Return Could Elevate Dodgers to New Heights
The boys in blue have been formidable this season, no doubt about it; nevertheless, one of the few obstacles they've had to overcome is injuries suffered by their starting rotation. Still in the thick of it with wins, that really shows the depth and fortitude of the team. However, if Ohtani comes back in the rotation, they may push the team to a new level-they would be heads and shoulders above the rest in the league.
As the season unfolds, so will the curiosity to see when Ohtani will again take the mound, this time as a member of the Dodgers, adding yet another level of intimidation to an already intimidating group.
