Tamia Tillman, the wife of Boston Celtics center Xavier Tillman, expressed her deep concerns about the future of her Black children following Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. In a heartfelt post, Tamia shared her fear and uncertainty for her family, particularly her two daughters, one of whom will soon enter her preteen years.
“I can’t even process how scared I am as a woman, as a mother of 2 Black daughters, one of (whom) will become a preteen during this term. For the first time in life, I feel genuine defeat.”
Trump's return to the White House marks his second term, after previously serving from 2016 to 2020. Notably, he becomes the first U.S. presidential nominee to be elected as a convicted felon, having been convicted earlier this year on 34 felony counts related to falsified business records.
In her post, Tamia also voiced her concerns about how Trump’s potential tax policies could impact her family, particularly as they navigate the realities of their financial situation.
“Mind you, our household (unlike most people) would actually be affected by the tax policies everyone thought was such a big deal. BUT WE VALUE PEOPLE’S RIGHTS MORE THAN MONEY!!!! & if you don’t, please read those last 2 lines again,” Tamia emphasized.
Her comments are framed against the backdrop of Xavier Tillman’s career in the NBA. After the Boston Celtics won the NBA Championship in 2024, Xavier signed a two-year, veteran minimum deal worth an estimated $2.2 million for the 2024-25 season and $2.5 million for the following year.
