Russell Westbrook is finding joy in beating his former teams back-to-back. The Sacramento Kings beat the Los Angeles Lakers in their most recent NBA fixture with a score of 124-112. It came after the team defeated the Houston Rockets 111-98, and the former purple and blue player has come forward to show some joy in beating his ex-teams.

Westbrook has played for multiple NBA franchises, and the Lakers and the Rockets have been among those. While in some cities, he is considered a hero, for some, he was just a passing veteran, and the 17-time NBA Champions are one of these teams.

Revenge Tour? Westbrook embraces beating former teams Lakers & Rockets back-to-back

Westbrook’s time with the Lakers did not go as expected, and the player does not hold much affinity, which is why he enjoyed beating them so much, it seems. After the match against JJ Redick’s side, the Kings’ guard was asked if he had extra motivation while playing against his former teams back-to-back. Westbrook replied:

“I play the same way every night, but I do enjoy beating teams that I was formerly at, for different reasons.”

This has been taken as a dig by several fans on the internet, but not at the Rockets, where he spent just a season. His time with the Lakers took the biggest hit to his reputation as the team was going through a struggling phase. However, ever since the appointment of the new head coach, JJ Redick seems to have changed a lot of things, and the Lakers have performed much better this season so far.

They are 5th in the Western Conference with a 23-14 record, with the signing of Luka Doncic, who has been rocking the leaderboard in scoring. Meanwhile, Westbrook recorded 22 points, five rebounds, and seven assists to power the Kings defeat the Lakers.
