Stephen A. Smith faced flak over the comments he rendered for LeBron James' son Bronny James. Smith overtly criticised Bronny for going flop in his rookie season and went on to say that junior James is in the NBA only because of his father LeBron James. Smith urged James to stop exposing his son to the NBA as he is not ready to play at the top level.

Stephen A. Smith Clears the Air the Comments He Made About Bronny James
As his comments garnered immense reaction, Stephen A. Smith took to his solo show on YouTube to clear the air on his comments.
“Couple of people texted me and pissed me off and they know who they are. People close to LeBron James, talking to me about questioning him as a father. C’mon y’all. It’s got to a point where this LeBron sensitivity is just beyond the pale.”
According to SAS, there a prize to pay for criticising LeBron James as people do not tend to associate him with failures but he highlighted that LeBron should also be held accountable for his failures. This isn’t to say that Bronny is a ‘failure’ in the slightest as the fact that he’s playing alongside his own father in the league is success of massive proportions.
However, as time goes on, the novelty for fans has started to wear off. Now, when they see the former USC guard on NBA hardwood, they expect him to show flashes of stardom when in reality, he simply isn’t there yet. “I’m not being cruel to Bronny,” said Smith while defending a similar take.

Stephen A. Smith's Earlier Comments on Bronny James
Famed broadcaster Stephen A. Smith paid heed to the performance of Bronny James in the Lakers' 104-118 defeat against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday and did not refrain from making a hard judgment. He pleaded with LeBron to "stop this" and bluntly spoke that the only reason Bronny is playing in the NBA is because of his "dad."
"I am pleading with LeBron James as a father, stop this, stop this,' Smith said on ESPN's First Take Wednesday. 'We all know that Bronny James is in the NBA because of his dad."
Smith acknowledged that the father-son duo playing together in the league for the same team makes up a wonderful story but it does not hide the bigger picture.
"And then reality sets in. We love what we're seeing from him in the G League - because that's where you belong, as you hone your skills and get better, and you legitimately earn, which I believe he has to the potential to do.
