The 28-year-old guard will be missing the Saturday's clash against Chicago Sky. This marks her second game on the trot that she will be missing due to a right ankle injury that she sustained last week against the Connecticut Sun.
However, there are signs that Cunningham is making progress during her recovery. She returned to practice on Friday as she was seen sporting a ankle brace. Assistant coach Austin Kelly, while speaking to the media gave a positive response on the star player.
Her progress is coming along, Kelly said. She was able to get in limited reps today. Still trying to work her way back into shape, make sure she doesn't have any setbacks.
The Indiana Fever will be missing quite a handful of stars against the Sky. Caitlin Clark will be missing her fifth game on the trot and Sophie Cunningham as well. Not just this, even their coach Stephanie White might miss the clash against the Sky.
White did not travel to Chicago with the team on Friday and even missed the practice due to personal reasons. Her availability is still uncertain and if she doesn't turn up, then Kelly will act as a head coach.
Despite the setbacks, the Indiana Fever will look to put up a fight against Angel Reese and co. The team will be eyeing to register their fourth win of the season.
