LA Lakers superstar LeBron James shares his feelings about his relationship with former teammate Anthony Davis. James was recently accused by an NBA insider who claimed that he was having a 'frustrating relationship' with Davis.

What did LeBron James say?

CBS sports insider Bill Reiter's report was seen by James himself on X (formerly known as Twitter), where he made it clear that he had nothing to do with the trade of Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks.

Reiter's report was then followed by insider Shams Charania on Sports Center where he talked about the machinations of the deal which was concluded in the shadows.

This deal materialized in the shadows … LeBron James had no idea this was coming. Anthony Davis had no idea this was coming. I’m told Luka Doncic is still stunned about this trade. - Shams Charania on ESPN

The timing of the deal caught everybody by surprise and Charania revealed James and Davis' obliviousness of the matter.

According to ESPN insider Dave McMenamin, James got to know of the deal while having dinner with his friends and had no idea that the deal was taking shape in the backend. No one in the league had a clue of this deal taking place and those who had the knowledge of this deal were Nico Harrison of the Mavericks and LA Lakers.

Mavericks GM on acquiring Anthony Davis

As reported by Dallas Morning News, Harrison's two-decade-old relationship with Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka was an integral part of this deal.

Pelinka first thought of the offer as a joke but when talks started to take shape about a month ago, he seemed warmed up to the possibility of landing Doncic at Lakers.

With Davis on their side, Dallas now can don three big line-ups with a supporting cast played by Daniel Gafford, Dereck Lively II and P.J. Washington behind Davis.

When asked about his interaction with Doncic since the trade, Harrison replied,

My guess is he probably doesn't want to talk to me.
