Lakers signals desire to re-sign LeBron James for record extending 24th NBA season
JJ Redick’s side is hopeful to retain the legend amid the retirement rumors. According to Anthony Irwin of Clutch Points:
"Some sources take that a step further and posited that not only would James play out the upcoming season with the Lakers, but that he would also likely re-sign after the season with the intent to eventually retire in Los Angeles.”
Irwin further stated:
"There's also the possibility of LeBron making 2025-26 his final season, but either way, he would be retiring as a Laker."
This is exciting news for the fans if it happens. James has already cemented his status as one of the greatest to wear the purple and gold. At age 41, his continued elite production keeps the door open for another chapter, even as the franchise navigates roster evolution. The three-time Olympic gold medalist will be an unrestricted free agent following the season.
