Will A'ja Wilson feature against Seattle Storm?
The 28-year-old center will not be suiting up for the Friday's clash against the Seattle Storm. Wilson is listed on the team's injury report as questionable. She has been put under concussion protocol following the Aces match against the Sparks on June 11. Wilson has missed three games on the trot against the Dallas Wings, Phoenix Mercury and Minnesota Lynx.
A'ja Wilson has been one of the key players for the Las Vegas Aces this season as she has been averaging 20.9 points, 9.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. She is also shooting 43.3%. But, her production has seen a dip as compared to her 2024 MVP season. Last season, A'ja Wilson made 38 appearances as she notched up 26.9 points, 11.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
Her lingering injury issues and the fall-off in her numbers have been problematic for the Las Vegas Aces, as they are eighth overall (5-6) in the standings. Heading into the Friday's clash against the Storm, the Aces are in a bit of trouble as they are on a two-game losing streak, which includes Sunday's loss at the hands of Minnesota Lynx.
The clash between Las Vegas Aces and Seattle Storm would be their third overall in the ongoing 2025 WNBA season. So far, both the teams have one win each. Seattle dominated Aces as they won 102-82 during the first game played on May 25. In the same game, Wilson had a poor outing as she ended the match with 15 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Their second clash took place on June 1 as it was won by the Aces, 75-70. In that match, the reigning MVP put on a stellar performance as she notched up 19 points, seven rebounds, three assists, three steals and four blocks. If she is available for the Friday's clash, then the Aces would be hoping of a similar performance from her.
Jackie Young has stepped up in A'ja Wilson's absence
In the absence of A'ja Wilson in the past three games, the Las Vegas Aces have heavily relied on the services of Jackie Young. She has been solid with her performances this season as she averages 18.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. She had 34 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the 97-89 loss to the Sparks on June 11.
She followed it up with another impressive performance against the Dallas Wings on June 13 as she had 28 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals to her name.
However, in the last two games, she has found it difficult to find her shot, shooting just 25%. The Las Vegas Aces will need Young to step up again if Wilson misses the Friday's clash against the Seattle Storm.
