In a major development for the NBA, LeBron has told the Lakers that he intends to continue his playing career next season but will do so with another franchise, according to Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul.

ESPN's Shams Charania also confirmed the news on Tuesday, citing Paul. James, who turns 42 in December, has decided to move on after eight seasons with the Lakers, during which he won the 2020 NBA Championship in the Orlando bubble and helped guide the team through various rebuilds. 

Most recently, he shared the court with his son Bronny James in a historic father-son duo. The announcement comes at a pivotal time in the league's offseason. While James has not yet specified his destination, the move ends his second stint in Los Angeles and opens the door for the Lakers to reshape their roster. 

James remains one of the league's most impactful players, blending elite on-court performance with veteran leadership. Further details on potential destinations and contract terms are expected in the coming days.
