The New Orleans Pelicans will welcome Charlotte Hornets on Sunday, March 30 at the Smoothie King Center. The talking point from the Pelicans point of view would be whether their star Zion Williamson start against the Hornets or not.

Will Zion Williamson start against Charlotte Hornets?

The 24-year-old power forward will be unavailable to play the clash against the Hornets and it will be his fifth game on the trot that he will miss due to back soreness. His last appearance came against Minnesota Timberwolves on March 19, when the Pelicans walked away with a victory (119-115). In that game, he registered 29 points, five rebounds, eight assists and three steals.

The 6-foot-6 forward missed the second leg of their double-header against Minnesota with the same injury just two days later. He even missed two months of action in the ongoing season due to a hamstring strain and has only played 30 games so far. The Pelicans have a below par record of 10-33 without Williamson and 1-3 since his latest injury.

Williamson had a career-high 70 games in the 2023-24 season and even managed to cut weight during the offseason. However, even staying in the best of the shapes, injuries has played a crucial role in him missing a chunk of the games.

In the 30 games that he has played so far in this season, he has averaged 24.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting 56.7% from the field, including 23.1% from beyond the arc.

The New Orleans Pelicans are placed fourteenth in the Western Conference with a record of 20-54 and are on a one game losing streak. On the other hand, the Charlotte Hornets are fourteenth in the Eastern Conference with a below par record of 18-55 and are on a four game losing streak.
