Ever since Luka Doncic departed from the franchise, the Dallas Mavericks have been continuously portraying the star guard in a negative light. By justifying the reasons behind the trade, the franchise has only drawn further angst from the fans and could be stated that they burned the bridges for the player. To make matters worse, Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont touched the subject and resorted to providing theoretically right reasons that triggered the trade.
In a video posted on Thursday, Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont discussed the deal, which enraged fans even more. During an interview, Dumont made numerous surprising statements on the team's choice to trade Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. When asked about the choice to move the 26-year-old sensation, he couldn't contain himself.
"So tough decisions are never easy and part of leadership is looking at risk and looking at all the factors of a decision and being willing to act at that time. And look to the long term and not only think about the short term or how it may be received immediately," Dumont said.
I'm going to stop here and just look at that first six words. "So tough decisions are never easy." Groundbreaking stuff.
Dumont subsequently stated that the Mavericks made certain transactions prior to the 2024 trade deadline that catapulted them to the NBA Finals but did not win, forcing them to consider how to improve. Apparently, the discussion included trading the team's top players. He stated that the choice was made with the future in mind and that the team's lineup has improved.
