Victor Wembanyama's comeback has been a big boost for Mitch Johnson's squad, but it looks the former Rookie of the Year is still on play-time restrictions as he sat out in crucial time against the Grizzlies. Spurs coach reveals main goal for Victor Wembanyama

The NBA wants its players to participate in at least 65 games to be eligible for individual honors. As of now, Victor Wambanyama took part in just 21 games out of 36 while dealing with injuries. The Spurs have only 46 remaining this season, and Wemby needs to play 44 games to be eligible for any individual awards.

After the defeat against the Grizzlies, SPurs coach Mitch Johnson disclosed that Wemby and the team's main goal is to keep their star healthy for the longer run.

"I think Victor being [22] is real. I think this team being at the early part of its journey is real. I think the success we've had, whether it was expected or not, is real," Johnson said.

"I do know his long-term health and making sure we keep that kid from himself in terms of his competitiveness. We want him to be healthy for years, not for trying to win the next couple of games whatever it may be."
