Luka Doncic's ex-teammate Kyrie Irving shared his thoughts on the historic three-team trade that saw Doncic going to the Lakers. On top of it, the whole National Basketball Association (NBA) community was left stunned after the news broke that Luka Doncic would be on the same roster as LeBron James for the Lakers. The trade was secured on Saturday, February 1 as it involves Anthony Davis going to the Dallas Mavericks.

When did Kyrie Irving get to know about Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis trade?

Few could have only predicted that this huge trade might take place someday as many experts were not even aware of the announcement. Even my fellow Dallas Mavericks teammates had no clue of such a trade.

According to NBA insider Ramona Shelburne, Dallas Mavericks' Kyrie Irving was working out in Cleveland when he got to know about the trade.

Kyrie Irving was also stunned by the Luka-AD trade. I’m told he was doing a training session in Cleveland when he saw the news come across from @ShamsCharania, wrote Ramona Shelburne.

Kyrie Irving made his move to the Dallas Mavericks almost two years ago to form a formidable partnership alongside Luka Doncic. The two share a close relationship over the last couple of years and share a strong bond on and off the court.

Last season, Irving and Doncic helped the Mavericks win 50 regular-season games. Because of the duo, the Mavericks steered past the LA Clippers, OKC Thunder and the Minnesota Timberwolves to make their way to the NBA Finals in 14 years.

Luka Doncic will return to court in February

The historic move will see Luka Doncic share the dressing room with LeBron James, one of the most complete and iconic players in the NBA. The Lakers fans will be thrilled as they signed the game's most gifted scorers.

The Slovenian last played on December 25 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He is suffering from a left calf strain. This season, Doncic has only featured in 22 games out of the 49 that the Mavericks have played.

According to Dallas Mavericks reporter Noah Weber, Doncic was spotted at Mavericks' practices. He is expected to make a return before the All-Star break on February 16, which makes him a possible candidate to start against the Utah Jazz on February 10.
