Deandre Ayton had some trouble on his way back to Los Angeles, but it did not last long. The Lakers star was temporarily detained at the Lyden Pindling International Airport, according to a report by TMZ. However, the detention was for a short period of time before he was set free. Here is the reason why the Lakers center faced the tensed moment.

Why was Lakers star Deandre Ayton detained at Bahamas airport?

Ayton was briefly detained at the airport in the Bahamas as authorities searched his bag for marijuana, as reported by TMZ. The 27-year-old was spotted smoking weed on the premises, as per the Central Division of the Royal Bahamas Police Force. Following this, it gave the authorities the right to search his bag.

Meanwhile, they found nothing, after which Ayton was released following a temporary detention. On the other hand, according to Ayton’s attorney, Devard Francis, the NBA player was released without any charges filed, as per what he told TMZ.

Ayton, who is a native of the Bahamas, is set to join the Lakers as the franchise kicks off its practice session this week ahead of the return of the NBA action on Friday, where they face the Los Angeles Clippers.
